WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING & OMBRE SHADING/POWDER BROWS?
Microblading and Ombre shading/Powder brows are a form of semi-permanent makeup. Microblading is a procedure using a specialist hand held tool which holds disposable micro-blades. The pigment is implanted by cutting fine hair like lines into the superficial dermis, which mimics hair strokes. To keep the strokes looking like hairs over time, as the microblading ages, we keep negative space between each stroke. This negative space can sometimes mean that microblading alone isn't 'full' or 'filled in' enough and feels too natural. This is why we usually recommend the Blade & Shade/Combination brow or the Ombre shading/Powder brow to those that fill their brows in daily.
Ombre shading/Powder Brows are also a form of semi-permanent makeup but these are created using a machine that implants pigment into the superficial dermis by puncturing tiny dots, to create shading and powdery effect. This technique can be as natural or as defined and bold as you may wish.
Semi Permanent Makeup on the brows lasts between 1-3 years depending on maintenance, skin type, medications, sun exposure & lifestyle. A colour boost is required to keep them topped up and looking fresh.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR MICROBLADING?

This treatment is perfect for those who either don't usually fill in their brows and just want to even them out or those like to mimic hair strokes with their makeup. Usually a fluffier, lighter look.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR OMBRE SHADING/POWDER BROWS?

This treatment is perfect for those who fill their brows in with pencil/powder everyday. For those that like a defined brow and if you like the skin stain that an eyebrow tint gives you (the shadow left behind the hairs on the skin) this is also the best technique for you.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR SEMI PERMANENT BROWS?

You must be 18 years of age or over. You must not be on medication for acne (Accutane). If you have previously taken Accutane you must have stopped taking this medication for 12 months prior to a micro blading session. Under no circumstances should you have this treatment if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, have type 1 or 2 diabetes/chemotherapy/radiation/cancer. If you have any allergies/disorders/disabilities, please let me know upon enquiry. If you have had your brows tattooed/microbladed before, they must have been done at least 1 year prior to your booking & they must have significantly faded. (Feel free to email me with photos of your current brows)
DOES IT HURT?
The treatment can be slightly uncomfortable, but bearable. (most of my clients fall asleep!) Red heads, blondes and fair skin types may experience more swelling and redness than darker skin types.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Microblading cost is £325. Ombre shading/Powder brows cost £350. (This cost can be spread between appointments - Ask Sian for more details if this is something you are interested in) This includes a full consultation, initial procedure, thorough after care advice with kit and second appt 6-8 weeks later where we see how your brows have healed, and touch up and build where required. All prices are subject to change.
PRE-PROCEDURE ADVICE
Avoid any activity that will cause you to sweat on the day of your treatment. Do no take aspirin, fish oil, coudamin, vitamin E or ibuprofen 48-72 hours prior before unless medically advised. Paracetamol is fine. You have to have stopped taking acne medication (Accutane) for one year - no exceptions. Avoid caffeine/alcohol the day before and after your treatment. Smoking will cause the pigment to prematurely fade and your anaesthetics you apply will not last as long. You are responsible for maintaining your appointments.
Do not have tan/sunburn on your face on the day of your treatment. NO SUN 30 days prior and post treatment (re-touch also). If you arrive at your appointment with a tan/sunburn you will be required to reschedule and your deposit will be forfeited. I reserve the right to apply my own discretion if I feel that pre-procedure advice has not been followed.
If you get your brows waxed or tinted, get this done 1 week before the procedure. It is also recommended to wait at least 30 days to have them tinted/waxed after the procedure.

AFTERCARE ADVICE
30 minutes after your treatment please wash the treated area with the wash provided and cool, boiled water using clean cotton pads to remove any blood/lymphatic fluid from the treated area. Repeat this 2 more times leaving 2 hourly intervals in between. Then continue to wash them AM and PM until you feel the scabs have disappareared. Other than when you wash them, keep them dry. If you accidentally get the area wet use a dry tissue and pat gently.
Only touch the area with clean hands during the healing process. Any scabbing or flaking will naturally shed. Some
itching is normal, but please don't pick, peel or scratch the treated area as the colour may heal unevenly and you will risk scarring and infection.
Do NOT apply any creams or makeup on your brows for 2 weeks after your treatment. You can get your brows wet after 2 weeks from your initial treatment, but only if all of the scabs have disappeared. Your aftercare procedure is just as important as your initial treatment. Absolutely NO exercise, swimming, sunbathing, sun beds, saunas, direct shower spray, water or makeup should be applied in the area during the healing period. (14 days after treatment) Avoid sleeping on your face 2 weeks after the treatment.
No swimming until the area has completely healed. It is recommended to apply some vaseline to your brows when swimming after healing to protect the colour and stop chlorine/salt water from entering.
RESULTS
There are many factors that can affect the result of your semi-permanent brow treatment. The main factor is the aftercare. The better you look after your brows the longer they will last.
Our skin changes as we age so eventually the microblading hair strokes can look more powdered. This happens with all SPMU procedures. That's why a powdered technique is usually recommended. Hair strokes will appear crisp and bold at first, but will soften up in appearance as the tissue heals. The area will shed, taking some colour. This is normal. The brows will start to oxidise and darken over the 1st month. It is common to have some areas fading more than others. This is part of the healing process and will be treated at the recommended re-touch appointment.

Skin type is also another factor that can affect the result. If you have oily skin, your results will look softer and more powdered instead of crisp strokes. If you have dark skin, please be aware your SPMU will not appear as bold as lighter skin types. Red heads, blondes and fair skin types may experience more fading than darker skin types.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have had your brows microbladed before, it can take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired result. This is because the scar tissue that has formed in the brow area will need additional procedures and fees will apply.
